Hey everyone! Welcome back, and let’s dive into a super easy watercolor landscape painting! Quick video tutorial at the bottom of the post.
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Watercolor Paper
- Water
- Large Watercolor Paintbrush
- Paper Towels or Cloth
- Watercolor Paint (Indigo & Cadmium Orange)
- Heat Gun (Optional)
Step One:
To begin this painting we are going to fill up our large paintbrush with a lot of orange paint. Use water and a lot of paint to get a thick amount of paint on your brush.
Then begin painting from the top of the page down to the middle of the page.
Step Two:
While your orange paint is still wet, quickly switch over to your blue paint. Again use water and a lot of blue paint to get a thick consistency on your brush.
Then starting from the bottom of the page begin painting working up toward the orange paint. Make sure you leave a small amount of white space between the two colors.
Clean your brush off then use the damp (not soaking) brush to blend the two sections.
Step Three:
After everything completely dries, we are going to mix a slightly darker consistency of blue paint. Add a little bit more blue paint to the mixture we used earlier. You can always test these colors out on a scrap piece of paper before diving into the painting.
Once your paint color is ready, we are going to paint a mountain at the bottom of the page. Make a slightly pointed mountain shape that curves back to the original starting point on the opposite side of the page.
Step Four:
When your mountain has completely dried make an even darker mixture of your blue paint. This section is going to be our darkest, so don’t hold back and use a lot of paint to make sure it is dark enough.
Take that super dark blue paint color on your brush, and with a supper messy approach paint in a layer of trees.
With this step just have fun, relax, and make any kind of shapes you want that somewhat resemble a line of trees in the dark.
Once this step dries you’re done!!
How did it feel to create such a quick painting only using two colors?
